Propecia hair loss treatment is a medication that is only available by prescription and is FDA approved. It works by blocking the formation of the hormone known as DHT which is responsible for hair loss, and with less DHT in the body then this of course is going to allow the hair to regrow. One thing to bear in mind with pattern baldness is that it is a genetic condition so you if you stopped taking the pills you will start losing hair again.

The side effects are erectile dysfunction, loss of libido, impotence, growing of breasts and rashes around the lips. These side effects do desist once you stop taking the pills, although there are reports of people still suffering from them for a long time after they have stopped taking the tablets. Further to that if you have a pregnant wife, you must be extremely careful that she does not touch a broken tablet as the hormone contained in it can lead to abnormalities in a male baby's sex organs.

When it comes to hair transplants, they are the only permanent solution to pattern baldness. They work by taking hair from the back and sides of the head and grafting them on to the effected area, and because the hair from the back and sides is permanent growing hair, if the transplants take, then they will continue to grow. This is not a cheap option though, the cost can be anywhere between $3 and $10 per graft and you normally need somewhere between 500 and 2000 grafts. There can be complications too because of the fact that it is surgery and this can lead to infection, itching, swelling, cysts, ingrown hair and poor growth.

The last option is natural treatments involving minerals and herbs. This again halts the production of DHT although there are no hormones used to do it and therefore no adverse sexual side effects. The herbs used are saw palmetto and zinc which reduces the production of 5 alpha reductase and nettle root which mops up the free testosterone in the body: these are the two factors that create DHT when they mix together.

There are no known side effects of taking Provillus although the saw palmetto may cause some men to have heart palpation's at first. As with Propecia though when you stop taking this product you will also experience hair loss again.
